The Strength of a Woman- A Letter to My Mother
Barely 5 feet tall
In your 3- inch heels
Every room you enter
Heads turn like wheels.
You may be small
But your presence is grand
Always dressed to perfection
Hair never knows a loose strand.
It was just you and me
For about 12 years.
I know it wasn’t easy
But you hid well your fears.
My mighty protector
The arrow to my bow
You gave me my world,
Taught me everything I know.
A home of our own,
The best private school,
Endless dance lessons,
Skirts filled with tulle.
It’s true you worked late
Nearly every night
I didn’t understand
And we often would fight.
But I know now
You did the best you could
Everything you did was for me
To have the life you thought I should.
The strength you’ve shown
More than any athlete I know
You’ve persevered through so much,
And continue to grow.
It’s been 30 years
And though we’re apart
Your love always surrounds me
From the depths of my heart.
So thank you mom,
For your endless might
I love you, and I admit,
You were usually right ;)
